DESCRIPTION

The Village of Glen Ellyn Public Works Department is accepting applications for temporary, part-time snowplow drivers to provide on-call support for winter snow and ice control operations. Prior snow plowing experience is preferred but not required training on vehicles, equipment, and plow routes will be provided.

These seasonal positions require availability during non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are typically no longer than 12 hours, though partial shifts may be assigned as needed. The anticipated employment period runs from approximately November 1 through April 15. Candidates must hold a valid Class D Illinois driver’s license.

SALARY & BENEFITS

  • $25.00/hour with accrued paid time off beginning on the first day of employment.
  • $30.00/hour for qualified candidates who are current employees of the Village of Glen Ellyn, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Department, the Glenbard Wastewater Authority, or partner agencies (e.g., local Park District, School District, or Library).

  4. The selected external candidate must successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background check, medical physical, and drug screen.
  5. Attendance at one paid training session (~2 hours) is required prior to the start of the plowing season for new recruits. Trainings are scheduled Monday–Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in November.
