DESCRIPTION:
The Glenbard Wastewater Authority (“the Authority”) is recruiting for an experienced (full-time) Environmental Resources Coordinator with the essential duties of a Pre-Treatment Coordinator. This position will also assist in the Laboratory with various duties relating to permit testing. This is a highly visible, “high touch” position that demands superior customer service skills. The purpose of the position is to serve as the environmental regulatory specialist for applicable industrial, significant user sites, and food service facilities to ensure pretreatment compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local regulations.; enforcement of member Village’s FOG (Fats, Oils and Grease) Ordinances; sizing and placement of grease traps and interceptors; conducting special investigations of industrial sites, overflows, and grease blockages; and entering data into the FOG and Monitoring Management System computer databases. The secondary functions of this position are to assist in conducting laboratory tests and analyses to monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations relating to the Authority’s NPDES permit and EPA Part 503 Biosolids Rule. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position reports directly to the Assistant Executive Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To receive consideration for this position, applicants must possess an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job. Must have three years of related pretreatment experience in areas such as wastewater/water sampling, investigations of spills/discharges, and/or inspecting grease interceptors/traps. Possession of a wastewater operator certification is a plus. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of application. Knowledge of Linko Management software is a plus.

Candidates must also be able to demonstrate superior customer service skills, as well as the ability to develop positive working relationships with the general public, vendors, and coworkers. Position also requires proficiency in the operation of computers and related software.
The duties of this job include physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, walking, lifting and/or moving (up to 50 pounds), grasping, talking, hearing/listening, seeing/observing, and repetitive motions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. Incumbent may be subjected to working around vibrations and noise, moving mechanical parts, and heights; position may also be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, infectious diseases, and extreme outdoor temperatures. Work environment includes both an office setting as well as working outdoors in various types of weather conditions. This is a safety sensitive position. The general work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with full benefits and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), a defined benefit retirement plan. Our comprehensive benefits package also includes health, dental, and vision insurance, life/AD&D coverage, flexible spending, transit, a 457 deferred compensation plan, paid time off, a wellness incentive program, and tuition reimbursement. This position is non-exempt under FLSA. Actual starting salary is negotiable, and will be dependent upon qualifications, experience, and professional achievement. The current salary range for this position is $70,932 – $99,304 (Grade J). Expected starting salary +/- $85,118 DOQ.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops and implements a schedule of industrial/commercial site inspections and prepares inspection reports in compliance with Pretreatment Program requirements
- Inspects industrial/commercial facilities and arranges for collection of samples of wastewater discharge following approved protocols
- Assists with enforcement of the member Village’s FOG ordinances
- Maintains a database of compliance monitoring results and performs assessment of compliance status of industrial/commercial contributors to the Authority
- Recommends revisions to local pretreatment regulations and/or program SOP’s in order to keep current with federal and state requirements
- Assists with the preparation of reports and supporting materials leading to enforcement action for correction of environmental violations
- Corresponds with industrial and commercial facility contacts to assess operational processes and compliance with environmental regulations
- Recruit’s haulers to bring in FOG, high strength wastes, and other materials beneficial for the purposes of co-digestion.
- Maintains accurate files and documentation required for regulatory purposes
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on wastewater samples.
- Analyze physical, chemical, and biological parameters to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Record, interpret, and report test results accurately.
- Assist in developing and improving testing procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation and data integrity in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Chair the Authority’s internal Sustainability Committee.
- Follow safety protocols and laboratory best practices.
