The Glen Ellyn Historical Society welcomes historian and local resident, Ron Aubrey on Saturday, May 25 at 2:00 PM in the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street, Glen Ellyn. His program is titled, Saving Lake Ellyn: The 14 Year Odyssey to Save Lake Ellyn. Aubrey 

shares his story of how Lake Ellyn was saved from development after the Glen Ellyn Hotel fire of 1906. In 1907, the Glen Ellyn Hotel and Springs Co. attempted to turn Lake Ellyn Park into residential lake front homes by announcing, “We are placing Lake Glen Ellyn on the 

market. Learn about the 14 – year odyssey, including many drama-type twists and turns, that ultimately resulted in saving our beloved Lake Ellyn. Admission is $5 adults, $3 GEHS members and students. Call 630-469-1867 and check the website at www.gehs.org.
