The Glen Ellyn Historical Society will host its Annual Member Meeting, where we will hear an update in the status of the ongoing projects of the GEHS. Following the brief meeting, we will have a presentation on the history of the women who served in the Army Signal Corps during WWI by GEHS Executive Director Jeffrey Anderson. There heroic women were sworn into service at the request of General John J. Pershing in 1917, to improve communications on the Western front. Thousands of women answered the call to serve, of which only 223 served in France, including 18 from Illinois. We will hear stories of why they served, what they experienced during the war, and what their lives were like after returning home from the war.
This FREE program is open the everyone and will be held at the History Center.
