Event Description:
On Tuesday, August 29, the Eastland Disaster Historical Society is presenting a multi-media presentation on this 1915 Chicago River Tragedy.  The program is at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street at 7:00 PM.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for GEHS members, and students 18 and under $5.  Call 630-469-1867 for information and check the website at www.glenellynhistory.org.  The presentation includes motion picture videos, dozens of photographs, firsthand narratives by descendants of survivors, news videos with ABC's Ron Magers interviewing several survivors and a video revealing how famous coach of the Chicago Bears, George "Papa Bear" Halas arrived too late to board the Eastland.  Refreshments are served.
