A special afternoon celebration is planned by the Glen Ellyn Historical Society featuring actress and historian Leslie Goddard. The event opens on Saturday, May 6 at 1:30 PM in the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street. Goddard is presenting an illustrated program on Kentucky Derby History and Traditions. There will be themed-refreshments that include Mint Julep Ice cream sundaes and Southern treats including cucumber sandwiches, pimento cheese, and deviled eggs. The audience is invited to wear their Derby hats and any other decorations they have for the Derby Day. The admission is $25 per person. Tickets are sold in advance at Stacy's Corners Store, the GEHS gift shop. Refreshments begin at 1:30 PM; the program begins at 2:00 PM.
